Bayesian inference for radar imagery based surveillance
نویسنده
چکیده
We are interested in creating an automated or semi-automated system with the capability of taking a set of radar imagery, collection parameters and a priori map and other tactical data, and producing likely interpretations of the possible military situa tions given the available evidence. This paper is concerned with the problem of the interpretation and computation of certainty or belief in the conclusions reached by such a system. For example, if we consider the problem of confirming or denying the presence of a battalion in a given area, we should include in our decision making process the prior likelihood of military presence based on tactical objectives, the evidence of military vehi cles in radar image data, the spatial and tactical clustering and patterns of the vehicles extracted from the imagery, etc. Furthermore, if the user of the system has particular interests such as knowing specific deployments, location of battalion headquarters, etc., then these interests should also be responded to in certainty computations.

Bayesian Inference, Applications in Persistent Scatterer Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar
Coherent Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery and its potential in interferometric analysis widened the horizon of earth observation and geodetic measurements in the past decades. Overcoming the error sources in conventional Interferometric SAR (InSAR) techniques, the advanced methods of Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSI) and differential SAR Tomography (TomoSAR) have been able to retr...

The Imagery Exploitation System/Balanced Technology Initiative (IES/BTl) inputs synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery and outputs probabilistically ranked interpretations of the presence and location of military force membership, organiza tion, and expected ground formations. There are also probabilistic models of underlying terrain types from a tactical perspective that provide evidence supp...
متن کاملA Soft-Input Soft-Output Target Detection Algorithm for Passive Radar
Abstract: This paper proposes a novel scheme for multi-static passive radar processing, based on soft-input soft-output processing and Bayesian sparse estimation. In this scheme, each receiver estimates the probability of target presence based on its received signal and the prior information received from a central processor. The resulting posterior target probabilities are transmitted to the c...
متن کاملImplementation of Traditional (S-R)-Based PM Method with Bayesian Inference
In order to perform Preventive Maintenance (PM), two approaches have evolved in the literature. The traditional approach is based on the use of statistical and reliability analysis of equipment failure. Under statistical-reliability (S-R)-based PM, the objective of achieving the minimum total cost is pursued by establishing fixed PM intervals, which are statistically optimal, at which to replac...
متن کاملCost Analysis of Acceptance Sampling Models Using Dynamic Programming and Bayesian Inference Considering Inspection Errors
Acceptance Sampling models have been widely applied in companies for the inspection and testing the raw material as well as the final products. A number of lots of the items are produced in a day in the industries so it may be impossible to inspect/test each item in a lot. The acceptance sampling models only provide the guarantee for the producer and consumer that the items in the lots are acco...
